Grey bar above output A and B window? what is it?

edited April 2013 in MixEmergency
Above the A and B display windows there is a grey bar with a white line in the middle that goes back and forth telling you something about the video you are playing. What does this measure or indicate?

  • It's to show you the how full the cache is, and to show your current position within it.

You can switch it off in the Advanced panel of the Preferences (the "Display debug buffer views" setting).
  • cache as in the the 2gb slider cache? I have 16gb in my laptop any chance to bump that up or would it do me no good? what causes a video to be more cache heavy is it the keyframes? Thanks.
  • Yeah - it relates to that slider.

For most things it's not such an issue. I would just leave it at the default (1GB, I think).
  • I only ask because ever since the update to 2.0 some videos that had no issue before now stall and get choppy. Personal video graphics i made. thanks for the prompt reponse.
    new video mix lol
