Which Macbook should I purchase?

edited January 2016 in MixEmergency
I've been using Mix Emergency with my mid-2009 Macbook Pro for the past 5-6 years. But now it's time for me to replace my Mac with a new one. I'm on a tight budget and I prefer not to buy anything used. I'm deciding between a 13" Macbook Pro (2012 model) and a 13" Macbook Air (2015 model). I found a site that still sells the discontinued Macbook Pro 2012 model new for $899 and Best Buy has a sale on the Macbook Air for $899 as well. Which one of these is best to run my mostly HD 720p library in Mix Emergency 3?
Thanks!!!

  • To be honest, it's hard to say in this case. Usually you're better off going with the computer with the dedicated GPU. Here though, it's not so clear, as the Intel HD Graphics 6000 should perform very well for basic video mixing of HD videos. I'm a big fan of the new MacBook Airs, but I don't feel confident to be able to give you any advice when deciding between these machines.
  • Ok thanks a lot Nick.
