New to video editing. Looking for some simple programs

Hey all. Been DJing/producing since '95 and using ME for 4 months now. 2012 MBP 13" i7, 16gb ram, 2tb hybrid hd. I'm really enjoying the process and learning a lot along the way. Any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated!
So, I want to cut out some snips from shows/movies, etc to put in my sampler. Maybe some slight audio editing (normalization, eq) would be nice to have too.
What would you recommend for such a task? Anything free? :D
Thanks in advance for any help. I might have more questions if that's cool.

  • Hello, welcome. Try out whatever software came with your computer. If it's a mac, imovie could do what you're after. But if you want to get more serious with it, look at Adobe Creative Cloud. It's a monthly subscription to get all the adobe programs. And Adobe Premiere is the best editing program there is (IMHO). It's great for pulling together stuff from different format and origins and is fairly easy to learn. Good luck!

  • Best bet for FREE is DaVinci Resolve. It is a powerful video editor.

You can also purchase Final Cut Pro X or an Adobe Premiere subscription.
